Blue and Gold Banquet with Worms

Last night was the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet - always a treat. Zack received several achievement awards, including his Bear award (finally! We have missed the last couple of pack meetings, so it's been gathering dust, waiting to be given to him for a while now...). He just loves scouts, and we are very fortunate that he has such attentive, reliable scout leaders.

Zack and all his awards!

Zack pinning the Bear pin on Mom. Another one for my collection!

We were assigned to bring a dessert item for the dinner, so I decided to make "worms and dirt" cupcakes. Always a hit with boys! They are SO easy to make...just make regular chocolate cupcakes, frost with chocolate frosting, then sprinkle chocolate cookie crumbs on top (dirt). Cut a gummy worm in half and place two pieces (or more) in each cupcake. Lots of fun. They were swiped up REALLY fast.

Matt and Dylan enjoying the fun. I love this photo of the two of them! They're both so darn cute.

Zack with his friend Austin. Both think they are "tricking" the other - Zack with the rabbit ears behind Austin, and Austin with the laser pointer pointing at Zack. Funny boys!

Playing a game - the goal was to try to pick up all the jelly beans from the bowl with chopsticks. Slightly frustrating, but still fun.

Why yes, I DID put the weather up to make you all jealous! Ha! Of course, in the mid-summer you will be glad it is not as hot where you are when we are here roasting at 110 degrees.

Looks like a fun Blue and Gold. Good cupcake choice. I have made those for Taysons school class and they loved them!
