Tonight I was helping Dylan on his math homework. It had been a long day; school, softball practice, drive home, cooking burgers etc... Needless to say I got a little frustrated when he wasn't understanding the concepts of counting values of coins. Pennies = 1 cent, Nickels = 5 cents ... etc.
After 30 minutes or so of doing this and only getting 2 pages completed, we wrapped it up.
I had him and Zack go get their pajamas on, and then they came back down for a fudgcicle. Afterwards I called Dylan over to let him know that I was sorry for getting frustrated, and that it takes time to learn new things like coins and money.
He responded "Why did you call me a bad name then?" I said "What did I call you?" His reply was "You called me Dang It!".
Zack was laughing hard and I had to chuckle. I explained to him that isn't a bad name.
I had said "Dang it! I told you that a nickel is worth 5." So he thought that I was calling him Dang It!
Nothing like a little humble pie to eat for dessert.
Keeping it real in Madsen land! Daddy Matt.

That's adorable!! I always call my son 'silly boy'. So now, he'll say "Mommy, you no call me silly boy, I smart boy!" ... From the mouths of babes!
Ha ha - I am sorry I missed this! SO funny! It's like the old joke I used to hear when I was a kid - only the 'name' was a little rougher than Dang it!
Aw, poor kid! Very cute story.
That is way funny! My girls say freakin all the time now. hmmm I wonder why. haha
So cute! I actually worked with money and stuff today in my class. It can be very frustrating, especially on April Fool's day. Bah!
Ah, the joys of helping your kids with homework. How well I remember those days and the frustration, the tears, etc.
To funny!
